Strategic Process Automation

Publicado

Talking about process automation is talking about business strategy. All areas can benefit from these technological implementations, from a basic process to a development that directly impacts the organization’s structure.

Let’s talk about process automation.

When developing a process automation strategy, we must ask ourselves, along with our team, several questions that will help us determine if this implementation is appropriate, whether it’s due to team size or quick access to data.

This identification of needs can address the following issues:

  1. Acceleration of administrative processes. When a process takes more time than necessary and hinders other tasks, especially creative or strategic ones.
  2. Incorrect prioritization of tasks. Incorrect allocation of personnel or time to task development, which can result in delays in the operational chain.
  3. Bureaucratization in management due to lack of assignment of responsibilities, among others. Obstruction caused by an excess of processes for defining project leaders or team heads.
  4. Improvement of customer satisfaction metrics.

As an initial step, we must conduct an analysis and audit of our Business Process Management (BPM) model to understand the real scope of our automation project.

In the vast majority of cases, a successful technological implementation should consider all departments impacted by our process in order to involve them through needs identification.

However, it is important to note that process automation is not a panacea and will not solve all problems in an area. We can determine the usefulness of this implementation from the very beginning. If an appropriate work plan is not carried out or the purpose of automation is not defined, the opposite of what we are seeking may occur, such as hindering adjacent processes, delivery times, etc.

For both analysis and implementation, it is recommended to involve a third party who can provide a fresh perspective and make suggestions according to business needs or structure. This is where agencies like WRU become strategic and technological allies.
